The Health Information Specialist is responsible for preparing, scanning, and indexing patient records; analyzing and reporting record completion; releasing patient health information; and providing departmental customer service.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • A minimum of one (1) year of experience in a Health Information Management department or comparable customer service-related field is required. Completion of related college coursework may be substituted for work experience.
  • A minimum typing speed of 35 wpm is required
  • Basic PC Skills and a working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite required
  • Demonstration of good use of the English language with good verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work well independently and in a team environment
  • Ability to research identified problems with an initiative to identify possible solutions
