Baylor Scott & White Medical Center is in search to hire an Insurance Collector Specialist for our Business Office.

 

Shift: 8:30 am to 5:00 pm

 

The Insurance Collection Specialist is responsible for following up on Managed Care and Commercial insurance accounts.  Duties include, but are not limited to, claim statusing, patient follow-up, denials follow-up and appeals.  The Insurance Collection Specialist is response for a thorough review of claims to identify information needed to complete the processing of claims, whether that information be from the hospital or the patient, and to subsequently provide all information needed to the insurance company. Hospital based collection and account follow-up experience is a strong plus, and desired.   The Insurance Collection Specialist will be responsible for commercial accounts, and may include managed Medicare, traditional Medicare and Medicaid accounts.  Claims are worked using external resources, payer sites, and involves heavy phone traffic with insurance companies and patients when necessary. 

The right candidate for the position will be a self-driven, goal-oriented individual that is interested in being a part of a team.  The position is a highly visible position with expectations of using all resources available.  Two to five years of hospital-based insurance follow-up experience is preferred, along with preferential consideration for experience working with Meditech.  Contract exposure is preferred, but not required.  Medicare and Medicaid claims knowledge is a plus.
