All of the classes and workshops offered by Baylor Scott & White – Frisco are completely free of charge. But space is limited, so contact us today to reserve your seat.

Carrie Johnson, MS, RDN, LD, will talk about nutrition for weight loss surgery patients, during both the weight loss and weight maintenance portions of one’s journey.

No registration is required and this event is FREE.  You do not have to have undergone surgery to attend, this is a great opportunity to meet with others and share experiences. We host a bariatric support group every month. Check back for upcoming dates. Passport to Mobility – Joint Replacement Education

All patients of the Joint Replacement Center are encouraged to attend our comprehensive Passport to Mobility preoperative class. Patients will learn what to expect before, during, and after their visit, meet other joint replacement patients, and receive a useful handbook for reference afterward.

Our Passport to Mobility class will cover:

• Preparing for surgery
• The role of the caregiver
• How to prepare for discharge ahead of time
• Equipment needed after surgery
• What to expect while in the hospital
• Daily hospital routine after surgery
• Pain management techniques
• The role of physical therapy in the recovery process
• Post-hospital care
• Preventing postoperative complications
• Signs and symptoms of complications
• What to do if you experience symptoms
• Discharge planning
• Question and answer session

In-person classes are canceled due to COVID-19 restrictions.

This class is a must for any patient undergoing joint replacement surgery. Topics include preparing for surgery, what to expect while in the hospital, preventing postoperative complications, signs, and symptoms of complications, what to do if you experience symptoms, discharge planning, and more. A physical therapist will be in attendance to demonstrate getting in and out of bed along with pre-op and postoperative exercises

Breastfeeding Support Group for New Moms – Free event, no registration is necessary

Every Thursday From 2:00 – 3:00 pm

Baylor Scott & White Medical Center Frisco ~ 5601 Warren Parkway, Frisco

  • All classes are hosted by highly trained lactation consultants on staff at Baylor Frisco.

  • Discussion topics rotate and are intended to educate participants on the most common challenges of breastfeeding in the first eight weeks of life.

  • Babies are always welcome, and breastfeeding is encouraged. Please limit participants to females only.

Baby 101 Workshops

They sure are cute, but they don’t come with instructions. Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Frisco offers a variety of classes designed to help parents prepare for their new addition. We encourage you to take as many courses as you can. Classes are complimentary for patients delivering at our facility and are all available in Spanish.

In order to access these classes, please register for your birth on our website here. Our Women’s Services Department will then provide you with a unique login code to access the courses.

Understanding Birth A unique online learning experience that provides comprehensive information you can trust as you prepare for your upcoming birth. In this class, you’ll learn all about the birth process and medical procedures through instructive video clips, animations, and interactive games. You’ll also get a sense of what labor is really like as you watch several birth stories. You’ll even have an opportunity to create your own birth plan!

Understanding Mother and Baby Care App In this video-rich app, you will learn how to care for yourself and your new baby. It is important to review all of the app. You will be asked if you understand the information before you are discharged from the hospital. 􀀁e sure to make notes of any questions you may have, and discuss them with your nurse or healthcare provider.

Understanding Birth App and E-Class A unique online learning experience and app that provides comprehensive information you can trust as you prepare for your upcoming birth. In this class, you’ll learn all about the birth process and medical procedures through instructive video clips, animations, and interactive games. You’ll also get a sense of what labor is really like as you watch several birth stories. You’ll even have an opportunity to create your own birth plan!

Understanding Your Newborn Web App and E-Class This App and E-class are designed to help you learn to care for your newborn in the first 6 weeks. You’ll also learn why bonding is so important for brain development and how reading your baby’s cues helps you understand what they need.

Understanding Breastfeeding Web App and E-Class A unique online and app-based learning experience that provides comprehensive information you can trust about breastfeeding. In this class, you’ll learn all about breastfeeding through instructive video clips, animations, and interactive games. You’ll also get a sense of what it’s really like to breastfeed as you hear from moms who have been there!

Unique Footprints In addition to the free classes and apps offered, we have partnered with Unique Footprints.  Unique Footprints offers a multitude of preparation classes, all from the comfort of your own home.   You will learn how to relieve your pregnancy discomforts, prepare for birth, improve the health of both you and your baby, and have a smooth, positive transition into motherhood.   The Unique Footprints program offers classes focus on:

  • Pregnancy meal plan

  • Prenatal yoga

  • Birth preparation

  • Postpartum preparation

  • Fetal brain development

  • Breastfeeding

  • Babycare

  • Infant sleep and safety

  • Much more!

In addition to the free classes and apps offered by Baylor Frisco, Unique Footprints offers a multitude of preparation classes, all from the comfort of your own home.   You will learn how to relieve your pregnancy discomforts, prepare for birth, improve the health of both you and your baby, and have a smooth, positive transition into motherhood.
