Uterine fibroids
As many as 30 to 40% of women over the age of 30 may experience uterine fibroids, which can lead to heavy, painful periods. While some women may not experience any symptoms, for those who do, Baylor Frisco offers several treatment options:
• Endometrial ablation, which uses a heat source to destroy the inner layer of the uterus
• Uterine fibroid embolization, a nonsurgical procedure that blocks the blood supply of individual fibroids, causing them to shrink.
