Staff Accountant / Full-time, 8:00a – 5:00p, Monday – Friday

SUMMARY / OBJECTIVE

The Staff Accountant position is heavily involved in reconciling and reviewing balance sheet accounts as well as producing monthly journal entries according to established policies and procedures.  This position reports to the Director of Finance.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Responsibilities include preparing journal entries, monthly and year-end closings, bank reconciliations and General Ledger reconciliations
  • Reporting and reconciling cash on a daily and monthly basis
  • Fixed Asset Maintenance to include tracking of capital purchases and reconciliation of capital accounts
  • Knowledgeable of payroll reporting and able to summarize payroll data to create appropriate journal entries and accruals
  • Produce monthly reports as needed
  • Assist with annual reporting and provide supporting documentation for audits
  • Ability to research variances and communicate insights in a useful and understandable manner
  • Ad-hoc tasks and special projects as needed
  • Takes action on items beyond formal job responsibilities

REQURIED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance or equivalent number of years of experience, plus 2-3 years of accounting experience. Healthcare accounting experience highly preferred.

TECHNICAL SKILLS

  • Strong Excel, Pivot Table and VLookUp skills
  • Competent with spreadsheets and databases
  • Working knowledge of ERP systems (Oracle or Meditech preferred)
