Emergency Room or Urgent Care?

All too often, illness or injury appears out of the blue.  Knowing the difference between urgent care and emergency care and where to seek treatment could save your life in a medical emergency.  Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Frisco is here to help, with an Urgent Care open 9:00 AM – 8:00 PM, seven days a week, and an Emergency Room open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

When to go to Urgent Care:

  • Fever without a rash
  • Running nose
  • Sore throat
  • Mild Asthma
  • Moderate flu-like symptoms
  • Sprains and strains
  • Small cuts that may require stitches
  • X-ray
  • Back pain
  • Earache
  • UTI

When to go to an Emergency Room:

  • Chest pain or difficulty breathing
  • Weakness or numbness on one side of the body
  • Slurred speech
  • Fainting or change in mental state
  • Serious burns
  • Head or eye injury – concussion or confusion
  • Broken bones and dislocated joints
  • Fever with a rash
  • Seizure
  • Sever cuts that may require stitches
  • Facial lacerations
  • Abdominal pain
  • Vaginal bleeding during pregnancy
